WATER PROJECT by Carry The Water
Asha Children Village at Athevelly
The village houses 16 children’s homes and 4 restoration homes for former commercial sex workers. The daily impact will be to over 150 children and nearly 100 women and staff. Currently, children are suffering from rashes, itchy skin, and water-born diseases. Within the next year, an additional 100 people will occupy the new leadership development school. The current borewell is not deep enough. Right now they are having to carry water from over 4km away. This clean water project is desperately needed.
Thanks to the generosity of so many, the Asha Children’s Home is now enjoying clean water!
Borewell with submersible pump
The village houses 16 children homes and 4 restoration homes for former commercial sex workers. Children used to suffer from the high risk of rashes, itchy skin, and water born diseases. The previous borewell was not deep enough. Before the installation of the new bore well, they were having to carry water from over 4 km away. 150 children and nearly 100 women and staff now have access to clean drinking water!
The John Foundation in Hyderabad has committed to provide the land, oversight of the project, and maintain the project for 10 years.
